I completely agree. There's not been many updates for over a year now, and it would be nice if we were informed of when this would come into effect soon.

If you are truly 'empowering artists in the digital music revolution' allow us, the artists, to choose preview length instead of forcing us to give our music away for free!  At the very least, Pro account users should be given this choice, having paid for the service. 

There is certainly no shortage of internet sites for artists to give away free music, however, I'm sure most would actually like to sell the music it costs them to make and this is after all indieSTORE not indieRADIO!!  As it stands you appear to be alienating the very artists you claim to support...

This particular thread has dragged on since June 06 and this matter should be properly addressed by indiestore as a matter of urgency.  Personally I think a 60 second high quality preview makes more sense... this should be sufficient time to hear a verse & chorus to determine whether you want to buy the download.

Although defeating my objective in opening an indiestore account, I'm unlikely to add any further tracks until this matter is resolved and artists are given the choice they deserve.

The devaluation of music is not a trend I subscribe to...

We understand that artists will want to limit the preview length on indiestore. We are developing a standard preview length at the moment and would like to release it soon. Empowering artists is key to the success of indiestore.

Looks like Rebekka is on a one girl crusade to get something done about the preview length.
Come on guys, make indiestore a desirable  vehicle to promote the cause of the unsigned.

This absolutely needs to be addressed now.  Anyone with the latest version of Realplayer / Quicktime can simply download the 'Preview' with one click!

2 years on it has to be said that "soon" is pretty meaningless, so may I ask what your time frame is on this?

The main 7digital site has limited previews incl widgets... so why are you so reluctant to implement this same function on indiestore?

This is really way beyond a joke. We have had no incentive to put up any new tracks because of this 'over generous' preview facility. If this isn't sorted soon, we won't be renewing our subscription, and it looks like a lot of people feel that way, 'fobbed off'.

We can see that this is a very important topic.  We have been working hard to get everything in place for the limitted previews.

In terms of timeframe, we are aiming to have something for this released this month.  Keep your eyes open for the newletter for more info.

All new tracks that are uploaded are processing 60 second versions of clips currently and have been for the past week or so.

Our intention is to get the entire catalogue for indiestore re-encoded and clipped to 60 second versions.  Work on this is close to complete, as you can imagine there are quite a few tracks.  This has taken longer than expected. 

We also intend to allow the managers to choose if they wish their clips to play the 60 second versions or stream the full track as their preview.  This work cannot be released until all re-encoded tracks are in place.  This is also the reason for delaying the newsletter and announcement.

You can see/hear some 60 second clips in action, all of the bands on the Latest  indiestores chart should be playing clipped versions of their previews.

We apologise for the delay in releasing this feature, but we are working towards getting it completed and released soon.

For anyone following this thread,
The preview lengths of all tracks are now 60 seconds 128 kbps.  Configurable options to come.

All new tracks also create and play 60 second clips.
