    indiestore insider 05.06.2006

    Welcome to indiestore insider,

This is the very first indiestore insider. It’ll be going out on a regular basis to everyone who runs an indiestore and will keep you up-to-date with the latest indiestore news - including the new features coming online over the coming months, tips on getting the most out of your indiestore and much more besides. Without further ado then, let’s get on with it shall we?

    indiestore update

Our official year zero was May 24, since then we’ve seen almost 1,500 stores set up. Thanks you for your support, it’s a great start. We’re working hard to make the site even better, here’s the latest improvements and fixes.

    - Live sales chart and latest indiestore list added to homepage.
We’ve added two lists that will automatically update and allow people to view the very latest indiestores as well as our best-selling artist chart. To appear on the latest indiestore list you need to have at least one active track.

    - Deactivate tracks.
From your Manager you can now select which tracks appear on your indiestore. There’s a new link called ‘See/Edit My Tracks’ from which you can set the availability of the tracks you’ve uploaded.

    - ‘Jump To Random indiestore’ button added.
On each indiestore we’ve added a jump to a random indiestore link. This will help people to browse indiestore randomly. We’re working on providing a full listing of all stores. More news soon.

     forums

Our forums are fast becoming an online resource for all things indiestore. You’ll find boards for general comments, FAQs and bugs, as well as a wishlist for new features you’d like see.

Your sign-in name for the forums is the URL keyword you selected when you created your account.  For example, if your URL is indiestore.com/7digital, your sign in for the forums would be 7digital. The password is the same password you used to create your account.

If you’ve got a question. It’d be a huge help to us and other users if you could use the forums rather than the online help. The indiestore team keep a close eye on the forums and we will respond to any questions you might have.

    link to your indiestore

The key to making your indiestore work is promotion, promotion and, well, promotion. A simple way to do this is tell people where they can find you. We’ve put together a button that you can add to your website, MySpace page or any other sites you might use.

    <a href="http://www.indiestore.com/yourstorename" target="_blank"> <img src="http://www.indiestore.com/graphics/indiestore_link.gif" border="0"> </a>

Just add your unique indiestore URL to bit that says /yourstorename in the above code and paste the entire link into your site. You can always insert your own graphic if you like.

    indiestore FAQ

In each indiestore insider we’ll be answering the most common frequently asked question.

    1) Why can’t I upload tracks?

Chances are you’re using a Mac with a browser that doesn’t support indiestore - namely Safari or Opera. You’ll know if you’re having this problem because you won’t be able to see the upload bar working. The fix is very simple, try using the latest version of Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/).

     indiestore recommends… indiestore.com/luckytobealive

Apologies to those of you who have no interest in a) The World Cup and b) the unlikely event that England will actually win it. Please indulge us for a moment.

We were staggered to discover that there are over 100 World Cup songs heading for release this summer. But which one is going to do a ‘Three Lions’ when Ing-er-lund take to the field?

Our pick is Lucky To Be Alive’s ‘This Game Is Our Game’ featuring The Trinity School Choir. A daft but effective number, its chorus (‘This game is our game, we gave it to the world/England is our name and our voice will be heard, when we’re champions of the world’) will surely sound best from the lungs of every England supporter heading for Germany this summer. Marvellous stuff.
