    indiestore insider - 10.07.2006

    Welcome to indiestore insider,

It’s been quite a week for indiestore with one of our number landing up on Channel 4’s Richard & Judy show. The children of Selsted Church of England Primary School in Kent took to the show to perform ‘Save Our School’, a song they wrote and recorded in a bid to save their school from closure.

With a project like indiestore you’re very much in the hands of the people using the service. To be honest, a store like Selsted School’s wasn’t what we imagined when we opened for business less than two months ago. It is a very welcome and an enormously pleasant surprise that it’s taken off in the way it has. And may it be the first in a long line of successful uses for our service. If you’ve got a good tale about how you’re using your indiestore, please let us know.

    Righto, down to business then…

    indiestore update

There’s already been a good deal of change since we launched including the addition of many new features as well as the ironing out of any problems, all of which will greatly help to improve your indiestore experience. Here’s the latest...

    - Artist A-Z listing

Over the last few weeks we’ve been addressing the issue of how we can raise the profile of people using indiestore. The first step is to provide a means for anyone visiting the site to see at a glance what’s on offer.

As such, we’ve added an A-Z listing of all indiestores which includes the artist tags so you can get an idea of what you’re letting your ears in for.

    Have a look here… http://www.indiestore.com/content/browse.aspx

Don’t forget that indiestore is your site, if there’s something you’d like to see added or improved, please let us know either by emailing us or by posting on the forum. Thank you!

    indiestore FAQ

The bit where we answer one of the most often asked frequently asked question.

    1) How can I find other indiestores?

There are a number of ways you can browse the wealth of diverse talent appearing daily on indiestore. When you’re in an individual indiestore look for the ‘Random indiestore’ button on the top bar, click it and you’ll get transported to another indiestore. We’ve also recently added an A-Z listing (http://www.indiestore.com/content/browse.aspx) which is a full list of all active indiestores along with their tags to give you an idea of the music on offer. Additionally, there’s a ‘Latest indiestores’ list and our ‘Top indiestores’ chart on every page. The newest stores appear in the ‘Latest indiestore’ list, while our most popular stores - compiled from a combination of sales and listens – make up the ‘Top indiestore’ chart.

In order to appear in any of our listings you will need to have at least one active track in your store.

    indiestore recommends… indiestore.com/harrymoore

indiestore really is beginning to take on a life of its own. Following our requests in previous insider newsletters for you to tell us why we should big up your store, we got a rather nice email from Circle Syndicate. Were they blowing their own trumpet? They were not. They dropped us a line to tell us about Harry Moore.

‘My intention was to email you with some sort of clever gibberish that would grab your attention so that you would feel inclined to promote the music of Circle Syndicate,’ they said. ‘However, that was before I discovered Harry Moore. I just can't get over the talent and pop sensibility of this 13 year old from Rugby. I love his song "Rainbow In Blue" and another he has posted on MySpace "Faster Than Ever". So, in a somewhat selfless (and stupid) gesture I am writing to urge you to recommend Harry Moore to all the indiestore.com people. Listen for yourself and tell me I'm wrong...’
