Just a thought!!
Just browsing through the stats for my page "Hugeknot" and a general glance at the statistics.

It seems that people are looking but not doing anything!!
 My page has had over 400 visitors in a short space, but only 22 listeners. My last post had 72 views, but 0 replies. The forum post in this thread about track pricing has 1,352 views, but just 22 replies.

I am not saying that I am any different or that my songs deserve to be listened to, but I am a statistician and I would say that the chances of anybody else doing anything regarding your music has to be quite limited.

This is not a critisism of the site - I think it is quite good and have praised it on my new website Musicollaborate.com (Spam alert!).  Maybe it is just me!

I think it is an interesting point you raise.  I think with the music, it is partly the nature of the site as bands are unknown to most people, so they will go and look and maybe listen and then, in very specific circumstances, buy a download.

With regards to this forum, you are right.  I have had an ongoing problem with my page displaying incorrectly, with very little feedback from the people running this board...

I was just about to make a new thread about this topic, thanks for being on point and on the same page. I have the same concerns to voice. I'm about to crack 400 visitors but only have 45 streams. There needs to be a way that the song automatically plays and reshuffles- JUST LIKE MYSPACE!!

I think if this site would emulate myspace to the teeth it would blow up seriously among artists all over. I fear that eventually Myspace is going to allow people to purchase tunes like you can here and if that happens this place is f*cked and will become obsolete.

Add a comments section and forcing visitors to hear the music is a great way to up exposure. you can't give consumers the ability to choose whether or not they want to hear it cause 9 times out of 10 they will not. Hence 400 views 45 streams. With the reshuffling option you can be sure that when someone comes to your page, they automatically hear one of your songs and everytime they come back it's something different. Seriously MySpace may dominate but they aren't doing it the best. And because there is so much crap floating through there a fresh site is just what the doctor ordered. American legislatures are already starting to come down on MySpace so now is the time to act and try to pull people away toard a better local with warm sandy beaches.

I don't know about you guys but indiestore to us is purely a secure way to sell our stuff, the marketing idea's are nice but at the moment still in their infancy. We use tools such as myspace, gigging and trying to make damn good music to actually get people to our indiestore, yes there are a lot of window shoppers but that i think is the nature of the internet not the indiestore.

some interesting points rasied, the streams are spot on. people are beginning to cotton on that indiestore is a secure way to sell their music, the getting people to your store is up to you. that said, we do listen to as much as we can and flagging up the good stuff on the homepage.

we are also aware that the site is still very much artist focussed. the intention when we launched was to get bands using the service, the next stage is to get music buyers to use it... and when does that start? we're working towards a full launch at the end of the this month.

as a footnote, mySpace. as i understand it, the talk is that they'll be taking around 45 per cent of every sale if they run with selling downloads. with indiestore pro you take 80 per cent. just a thought.
